Why do I need to reach all of the craft workers? My foreman will spread the word.

If your method works for you, that's great! Keep doing what you're doing. But think about this: instead of relaying info to a group of foremen and having them be responsible for dispersing it to everyone else, wouldn't it be more effective to instantly alert all workers at once? That way everyone is aware of the situation immediately and the message is consistent. Foremen can then spend their time fielding questions and getting people what they need as opposed to tracking down every single person.

Won’t having my workers use MindForge on their cell phones distract them from their jobs?

It's not intended to be open all the time. Only when important messages are sent. Things like project updates, weather alerts, and logistic changes are typically quick to read, allowing crews to adjust accordingly and get back to work. For anyone worried about distracting their workers, we've seen clients who only send messages in the morning, during lunch, or after hours. That seems to work for them. But MindForge truly shines with those up-to-the-minute alerts and warnings that can happen when you least expect it.

I already communicate with group texts. How is MindForge any better?

Group texting is fast and free. But is it organized? MindForge allows you to make groups, easily see who is in those groups, and add or remove people accordingly. There's no cap on the amount of people you can add. You can see who has opened each message and when they opened it. Texting is great, but MindForge does everything texting can and more.

How hard is it for workers to get into the system?

Getting into the system is easy. One of our major goals with this app was to make it as simple as possible for people to jump in and use. Every Team and Jobsite includes a unique join code (both a QR code or an 8 digit number). Workers simply scan the QR code for a team and they will be guided through the process of downloading the app and joining that team. If they already have the app installed, they’ll be added to the team instantly! Anyone that doesn’t want to scan a QR code can simply install the MindForge app and enter the 8 digit join code to be added to the team. Through our web app, you can download printable QR codes to hang in the work trailer and make it easy for folks to scan.

How can I onboard subcontractors who don’t work for my organization?

Every group you create in MindForge comes with a unique join code (both a QR code and an 8 digit number). When a subcontractor walks onto the job, they can either scan the QR code or download the app and manually enter the join code number. This automatically adds them to the group and they get immediate access to past and future messages sent to that group. And no company email address is required. All workers can sign in with a personal email or phone number. In addition, anyone joining a group at the jobsite level (Jobsite or Jobsite Team) will not be added to your overall Employee List. But they will appear as a member of that Jobsite.

Can MindForge integrate with other software?

MindForge offers you the ability to import employees via CSV. Importing CSVs allows you to easily and quickly upload your employee data into the platform. Additionally, we designed MindForge to integrate with your other software systems and are working with a handful of partners to bring MindForge to more people. We’re pressed for time. How can I implement this tool without slowing down work?

We tried hard to develop a tool that is as simple and non-invasive as possible. Once you set up your groups in the app, it really is easy for workers to quickly join a group. MindForge even provides printable QR codes to hang in the work trailer. It only takes a second while entering or exiting the trailer to scan a code, download the app and join a group. That's all you have to do. Once workers have joined, it's as simple as typing a message and hitting send.

What if not all of my workers have smartphones?

According to Statista, in 2025, there will be 320 Million Smartphone users in the US. That’s 90% of the US population. I'm sure there will be a few holdouts on your jobsites that keep using their flip phones from 2005, but do you want to drive your communication strategy based on that small minority? Some teams will provide company-owned Android devices to a handful of flip-phone users. But honestly, if you're getting information out to 90% of your crew, chances are high the other 10% will get the word too.

What do I tell workers that don’t want to use an app?

We've seen customers who instantly fall in love with MindForge and others who struggle to get buy-in from their team. The main difference between these two is that one group of workers sees the value of the app and the others don't. If you explain the value (the "why") behind MindForge, it's easier for employees to wrap their heads around the new system. Do your workers hate being the last to know things? Is there a lot of confusion around schedule changes or delays? Do workers appreciate receiving detailed communication? Let them know MindForge will solve all of this. It's their direct line to everything that's happening on the jobsite. From there, all you need to do is back it up by regularly sending important information. It's as simple as that.

Can you assign training with MindForge?

Yes, but MindForge is not an LMS. Although MindForge is primarily a communication platform, it is possible to assign training content to your workers. All training can be completed on a mobile device or web browser. You can upload custom training content or purchase courses from our marketplace of over 450 courses. Our content tools allow you to upload videos, PDFs, and images. We do not currently support SCORM content.

What if my workers don’t want to use their personal phones?

Over ten thousand workers have downloaded the MindForge app onto their phones. Our clients have reported little pushback from the field about using personal mobile devices to download work-related mobile apps. We hear that once workers have the app and start receiving critical information, they are ultimately happy about it. That's because they're more aware of what's happening around them and feel empowered.

How do workers know they have a message?

We wanted to build MindForge like all the typical social media platforms. When you send a message, workers receive a notification (with a unique alert sound!). When they open the app, the message appears at the top of their Message Center. We also included a small red dot on the app icon if you have an unread message.

Does the worker need a company email address to access MindForge?

No. They only need a mobile phone number or any regular email address.

Does MindForge replace my project management software?

No. MindForge is not intended to replace project management software. We’ve built MindForge to work alongside project management software, by providing a tool to communicate project updates and changes to everyone on site. MindForge is a communication and training tool first and foremost. It currently has no functionality for keeping track of project timelines, tasks, resources, and budgets.

Does MindForge replace my Safety Management System?

No. MindForge is an excellent complement to the Safety Management software you use to gather safety-related information from the field and track safety compliance. MindForge provides a means to act on the data you collect with your Safety Management System.

We use Microsoft Teams. Why would I use MindForge?

Any worker you want to include in your Microsoft Teams communications will require a company-issued email address, costing you about $13 per month. If that works for you, stick with Teams.
